Dear Barb,
I couldn't resist writing back regarding the teacher who thinks it's funny
that the district might pursue payment for books she lost......
*I* think it would be funny if you gave her a copy of the
April 11, 2002 Associated Press article "Woman Jailed Over Library
Books" that appeared in major newspapers. Theresa Dawn Keller owed the
Hazleton Public Library $120, and the judge said she would remain in the
Luzerne County Correctional Facility until the library was paid. I never saw
a followup story that said how long that took. Or maybe she's still there!!!
