To Marian Royal in New Mexico:

"Song of the South" portrays insulting stereotypes of black people (as
animals, no less) that are immediate recognizable to any aware black person.
To place those stereotypes in the minds of small children of any race --
black, white, mixed, Asian, Asian-Pacific, Hispanic, Latino, Native American,
or other -- so that when they see black people interacting in an animated
fashion, with Southern speech patterns, those engrained images will
subconsciously exist in their head is really problematic. To then have a
contrasting nice kindly "uncle" image to compensate then perpetuates another
stereotype. Haven't we moved beyond all that?

The term PC for one person often refers to something that is truly socially
offensive to someone else somewhere. It is a very sad comment on anyone to
know that legality is their only bottom line as to what images they do and do
not present to children. This is not academic posturing, i.e. PC for me; it
is personally objectionable!
