I decided to jump in on the keeping magazines discussion. I started keeping
all the Newsweek, Time and US News AND the Readers' Guide hardbound edition.
My reasoning is that when a story is current, there is a lot of
information in those news magazines that won't be available when it becomes
"history". My idea paid off this year when I had a student have to do some
background information on the "Black Hawk Down" incident. By having
Readers' Guide access to the news mags, she got a lot more source document
information ( about 10 issues had information) than I could have given her
in any book I might have. Just my way of doing things.
