Imagine you were out shopping and each time you picked up a little something at a store you tied it to your back and had to drag it around with you. By the end of the trip you would have quite a trail behind you. It would be cumbersome to say the least. I think that is what it is like when people reply to a message and include the whole original message in their response. I think LMNET would be a third shorter if people would just snip the relevant part of the original message and include that in their reply. I like to think of librarians as efficiency experts so let's apply some of that instinct for efficiency to our replying technique.
