Problems with AfW (Softlink's Alice)

Dear LM_Netters:
If there are librarians out there with experience or knowledge of AfW =
(Alice for Windows) from Softlink (in the UK), I'd love to hear from =
you. We have had an "annus horribilus", as the Brits say, with this =
cataloguing software.
Some of our problems:
1. Diacriticals don't work at all. (A search for P=E2ques (Easter in =
French) retrieves the keyword sawyer!)
2. Arabic doesn't work, although it is supposed to.
3. Indexes are not in alphabetical order! (Title, borrower name, etc.)
4. Constant system checks are required.
5. The online catalogue fails regularly.
6. Support doesn't give us solutions, only excuses or delays.
If you've had better luck, please share!
