The best way to elimate this problem is to write an AR test for the book. I
even allow students to write the tests. I check the questions for accuracy
and enter them. This allows any book to be an AR book. I know that many
librarians have negative feelings about AR and don't encourage its use and
that's your choice. My feeling is that if the school is going to use it,
then I had better make it work as well as it possibly can. I tell students
regularly that if there isn't an AR test for it, let me know and I'll write
one or they can. It works for my K-6 schools, so I think it would work for
most. By the way, I use the AR website (www.renlearn.com) to get the level
and word count. This is all that is needed to determine points.
