Judy,

Could you work part time (with a salary included) at another library nearby?
This would give you a smaller income, but keep you active in the program.
Or perhaps you might consider giving up the salary and just volunteering
after things have settled down with your family.

You've got a lot of things happening in your life right now and you need to
take care of YOU first. If the salary isn't the biggest issue, then perhaps
you would re-evaluate what your priorities are right now. I know with my
own family situations and some recent medical conditions, that if I had the
chance to retire right now (and I'm still about 15 years away from that....)
I would do it.

Family and health (physical and mental) are the most important things in
your life. Once these are gone, you really aren't living...you're just
surviving.

My vote is that you retire!! Take some time to relax, get organized with
your family and home, spend time with them and if you need to take a
part-time job as a librarian, I bet there are places that could use your
expertise.

Good luck and keep us informed!
