Actually, when you go to most stores that offer this, you pay for the higher
priced items first and the lowest items are free.
They don't always line them up by price but he  receipt will reflect that
you were charged for all then received credits for the lower# of items equal
to the higher priced items: if you have four items the two  lowest will be
credited, if you have 6 the three lowest will be free. If you have an
unequal number, you will only get free ones for an equal number of pay ones
(three items will get you one free- the lowest priced one).
  Using the prices listed:
$12.95, $11.95;  $ 4.95. $ 4.95; $ 7.99, $ 7.95; $ .99 and $ .99.
You would pay for the $12.95,$11.95.$7.99,$7.95 and get the two $4.95 and
the two $.99 free.
