You must have much more honest students and staff than I. Last year I
had 190 items MISSING...meaning they disappeared just during last
school year! If I don't take inventory then I can spend a ton of time
looking for something that isn't there! (a security system is not
feasible with 4 doors which not only service the library but 2 computer
labs and a commons room.) In addition we have between a 30-50%
transient rate during the school year...families just get up and move
and we don't know about it until we get record requests from the new
school. Unfortunately, to me, your thoughts are wonderful in theory
but impossible to practice.
