No one seems to know for sure who owns copyright on a yearbook, but most people WANT to know (i.e. they asked for a hit). So, I'm just compiling a short list of responses for those interested. - The publisher - The school district/administration - The photography studio/photographer (one person suggested that if the picture in question is a candid, that copyright belongs to the student who took the picture) - The yearbook advisor - The celebrity (one person suggested that the journalist get in touch with the manager of the celebrity, as the picture is of him/her so they should get his/her permission.) - No one: yearbooks are public record. Hmm... Oh, I just got this link from someone else: http://www.cni.org/Hforums/cni-copyright/1997-02/0489.html It's what a law professor at Whittier Law School thinks about it. Maybe his thoughts can shed some light on the subject... Thanks to all who responded! ===== Dawn Lindgren, Library Media Specialist Sayreville War Memorial High School, Parlin, NJ MsLindgren@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
