Here are the responses I received! Thanks to everyone! Lisa

I bought an Epson perfection 1260 photo scanner from Mac Warehouse
(it also works on a PC) with a slide adapter and have scanned many
slides -- it requires the slides to be feed slide by slide but it
works tremendously well. Cost of the scanner and adapter is $79.95
-- call 1-800-800-2222

Perhaps you have a university near by with a digital media center? You
might be able to use it.

You need a special slide scanner. Check on http://www.hp.com or
http://www.cdw.com I think that they are the correct addresses. You
should be able to find a slide scanner there or do a web search. After
that you need a CD burner and CDWs to burn to.

I use SmartScan 3600 to scan slides. It is a scanner for slides. Works
great.

You can buy a scanner with a transparency adapter. It will come with
needed software to scan images. Save the images in a gif, jpeg, etc.
format and copy them to CD with a copying program, that comes with your
CD-R.

A 35mm slide scanner or a slide scan attachment for your flatbed scanner
Software to "read" the scanned image.
Probably also software to catalog your pictures (Adobe PhotoAlbum or Roxio
PhotoSuite 5)

I have an hp scanjet 4570c scanner and an attachment
that will scan slides. I haven't used it yet -- one
of the things I want to do this summer.

I got an HP Photosmart scanner on eBay - cost about $150 with shipping -
brand new, in the box. Does 2400 dpi (real - not interpolated) - does film
(automatically inverts from negative to positive) and small (4x6) prints.
Don't use the film scanners that some flatbed scanners use - not high
enough resolution. Of course, you can pay LOTS more for slide scanners -
to the tune of 1000s of dollars.
