Hi all, I have a volume of a 3 volume set (Worldmark Yearbook 2000) which came back water and mold damaged. The entire set is out of print and the publisher can't replace it. Per my VP, I billed the student for the entire replacement cost. I have located online replacement options and sent those to the parent. The principal is now dealing with the issue. The book is still legible, and could still be used as a resource in the library. The principal would like to offer different possibilities to the parent- total replacement or assess a fine for the damage. I don't know how much to tell her to charge them. The set originally cost $300.00. It can be replaced via booksellers on the internet for between $150-175.00 How much of a damage fine should I charge? Thanks for your suggestions.
