GEN: retirement - I did it!

O.K., I've done it!  I talked to my principal and my superintendent, and I took the 
momentous step of sending in my application for teacher
retirement. I'm on my way today to hand in my letter of resignation. Ironically, 
the afternoon after I talked to my superintendent that
morning, I admitted my mother to the hospital where she was kept in ICU for several 
days. I had to be away from school for 2 of the last 6
days of the year, so, all in all, I suppose I've made the right decision, and, if I 
was looking for a sign, I guess I received one.

I've forwarded all my retirement messages to my home computer so I can re-read them 
when I start feeling a twinge of regret.  I thank you
all so very much for your insightful comments.  I plan on retaining my LM_net 
membership by subscribing from my home, so I'll keep in
touch with this familiar world from a different address.

It's been a great 33-year ride. I hope I've made a difference...Judy
