I got a good laugh (inside) and thought you might enjoy.

My students were doing an encyclopedia lesson and they had to uncover =
information about an assigned state. One of the questions was to find =
the state animal. The young lady who had Idaho handed in her paper for =
me to check. I noticed for the state animal she had written down =
"seal". I proceeded to tell her that Idaho was land locked and wouldn't =
it seem odd for a state with no ocean for a border to have a seal as the =
state animal. She told me it was in the encyclopedia. I asked her to =
show me and low and behold there is was the "State Seal." I then got =
into a discussion about state emblems.

Out of a class of 27 only 2 students in class have ever used an =
encyclopedia to do research.=20

Out of curiosity, how many sets of encyclopedias is acceptable for a =
middle school with 1,400 students and how far back should they be kept?

Thanks in advance for the response,
