"Pruning" Books

Thank you for the discussion on weeding.  I feel much better about the =
MAJOR "pruning" I am doing this semester.  The first year I was here =
(1994) I discarded over 2,000 volumes.  "Someday man will get to the =
moon", biographies on people that no one had ever heard of, geography =
titles from the 60's, Jane Stewardess of Airwaves, and things of that =
nature.  I had no problems I even stacked the books in a display case =
until it was full to show we were updating the library.  We did sneak them =
into the trash at a warning of someone, I asked the custodian when the =
dumpster was emptied and had my student assistants put them in that =
morning.    Two years ago when we moved to the new building I did it again =
while splitting my 7-12 to a 5-8 and 9-12.   Not as many books.

 This year I am doing a serious How OLD is it?  Did I buy it (it's my =
tenth year)?  If not why is it here?  Has it been checked out since the =
move (2 years)?  It is embarrassing to say I am only to the 700's and=20
I have filled 2 stacks of boxes as tall as me!

I can't help but consider the cost! But after reading all the posts I know =
I am doing the right thing!

We are donating to the public library's used book sale.  I hope we don't =
have any problems with that!
