Dear Angie
If you search the research, you will find that consistently books are used
more and more because of technology, not less and less as you state. Patrons
get an appetite to follow something through and seek out print resources.

Why not focus on the real positives - it strengthens your position and that
of the LRC. Think about having access to timely information that hasn't had
to go through a couple of years of the production process; the importance of
having to really think critically about source, accuracy, currency, bias,
and the issues of copyright and plagiarism and how they have led to better,
relevant rich-task assignments; the improvement in thinking and writing
skills as students have to use those higher-order processes to address the
tasks; the intrinsic attraction of working online and the improvement in
reading because kids rapidly learn that they need to read what's on the
screen; the rapid access to information whether it be a telephone number or
an academic article; the de-isolation (for want of a better word) of so many
people and the contribution that they can now make to our understanding
about the world; the ability for those, including your students, to
collaborate online on projects and assignments - once you start thinking
about it, the list will just grow and grow!

And if you don't have to confine yourself to the Internet, talk about the
medium you will be using to deliver your message and the impact that has
had.
