Hi folks, Just to let you know I met with my principal and my coworker to discuss the reading levels of the series books in question. The results: we win! The children will be allowed to read below level for pleasure reading and on level for required book reports. Thanks again for your thoughts and beliefs. Here is the original post: My coworker and I are in disagreement as to whether it is ok for 6th graders to be reading the Hardy Boys series, Nancy Drew, Dear America and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Our fiction collection is separated into grade groups (3-5, 6-8). The 6th graders are supposed to be taking books from the 6-8 section and not the 3-5 section. However, I feel that these books are on the borderline and can go in either group. Usually this isn's too much of a problem unless one of us is covering for the other; if a student brings back a late book on a day I am not there; or, if one of her 6th grades sees that one of mine has one of these books from the 3-5 section. I say yea, she says nay. Your opinions please? Brenda Wunder Librarian St. Ursula School (K-8) Baltimore, Maryland bwunder2002@yahoo.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
