Our Mass Media teacher and I are collaborating on a project that would
have students research a news event AND read a book based on that event to
show how writers are sometimes inspired by news items, and how the the
book can be faithful to or divert from the true story.

For example:

Lois Duncan's book about her daughter's murder - her book Who Killed my
Daughter?
The Clutter family murders - Capote's book - In Cold Blood
Chappaquiddick - Joyce Carol Oates' book - Blackwater

We're trying to compile a list of events and related book titles. If you
have any to contribute, please send them to me, and I will post a list and
a description of the assignment when we are finished.

TIA
