What are you doing to avoid pornographic popups? We have been having a terrible problem with this in the past month or so. BTW, sorry for the cross-postings. I am at a middle school and students use the computers throughout the = day on a walk-in basis. Of course, they have signed an AUP, acknowledging that they are aware that the computers are to be used only for instructional purposes but kids will do what they can when we walk away. I am not sure if the students are purposely accessing sites which are sponsored by pornographers or if they are inadvertently stumbling upon = these when looking for lyrics or online games. Anyway, we are getting some = truly bad stuff. I would like to know if you've had this problem and what you've done = about it, or if not, at least suggestions. I'd also like to know what my risk = for liability is since it's happening in my domain.=20 I'm considering creating a barcode for each computer and requiring the students to "check out" a computer. They will also have to sign in on = an Internet log with name, ID, time in and out, purpose for search or use. I would be grateful for any further suggestions, advice, etc. Sincerely, Carol Valdez Clark MS librarian Laredo, TX =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
