classroom.   The presentation will feature suggestions and tips from her

include strategies for arrival time, class meetings, work centers, small

Using Primary Sources to Make History Come Alive.=20
Join us for a workshop with Karen Baicker creator of The Scholastic
Primary Sources Teaching Kit series.  The series includes units on civil
rights, colonial times, explorers, immigration and the westward
movement.  These teaching materials provide valuable background
information on historical events, document-based discussion questions,
and reproducible that help kids analyze and evaluate historical

Reading specialist and kindergarten teacher Rosalie Franzese will
present lessons and strategies that help young learners develop literacy

guidebook, Reading and Writing in Kindergarten.  Topics will include
methods for read-aloud, shared reading and writing, guided reading, word

plan and organize student partnerships, cooperative learning groups,
