Summary of survey of why professional media positions are cut

Hi folks,

Last spring I sent a survey to librarians and administrators in MN and
WI districts that had cut 25% of their professional library staff in the
past 3 years. I received 38 usable responses by the end of July.

At long last, I have the responses to the survey available for
downloading. You can get it in .pdf format from:
http://www.doug-johnson.com/dougwri/cutreport.pdf I am not sure it is
terribly conclusive, but may provide you with some insights.

Thanks much to Dr. Gary Hartzell and Dr. Eric Bartleson (Superintendent
of Winona MN schools) for their help with the design of the survey
questions. (Don't blame them for the results or my interpretation of
them, however!)

Thanks also who had the bravery to take part in the survey. Times of
tight budgets are never easy.
