Could you share the 2 titles mentioned? I have had no problems with Scholastic. I go through every title before I put it up for sale - if anything was questionable I would remove it - but, so far, I have had no problems. Allan Dr. Allan O'Grady Cuseo Bishop Kearney High School Library 125 Kings Highway South Rochester, New York 14617 585-342-4000 x231 585-342-4694 (FAX) Education in the tradition of the Christian Brothers FAC OMNIA BENE "DO ALL THINGS WELL" -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU]On Behalf Of Mary Buitendorp Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2003 2:31 PM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: Book Fairs- Christian Schools A copy of an e-mail sent by James Dobson, warning parents about two specific books supposedly sold by Scholastic Book Fairs was given to my principal by a parent. The principal passed it on to me. I do not remember seeing these particular books at my book fairs and if I saw anything objectionable I would have removed it from the Fair. The e-mail also states that many others like the two offending titles are being sold by Scholastic. I don't agree with these statements but we are a Christian school and I need to be sensitive to these complaints. The parent suggests we use God's World Book Club instead of Scholastic. I have been happy with Scholastic and the percentage of profit is less with God's World Book Club. I rely heavily on this income to boost my meager budget. My questions: 1. Do you have a rationale you could share with me beyond what I have used for keeping Scholastic? 2. Has anyone had experience with God's World Book Fairs? The address is for North Carolina. How do you receive the Book Fair? Do they have regional offices? 3. If you have held a God's Word Book Fair, what were your profits? Thanks for your collective wisdom! -- Mary Buitendorp Media Specialist Grand Haven Christian School Grand Haven, MI 49417 mbuitend@remc7.k12.mi.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=- All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
