Yes, we have discussed this in the past--I don't remember how recently.
During my summer and Christmas holidays which I spend in Austin, TX, I
always make significant book purchases at both Borders and Barnes & Noble
using an educator's discount card. Along with my educator's discount card,
I always present my school ID card. They don't care that I am a librarian
or that I work in an international school nearly ten thousand miles away
instead of a local district. They have always been very helpful, sometimes
getting boxes from the stock room for me or helping me load the purchases
into my car.

I think that the problems some of you have encountered are the result of
local management decisions. If you want to carry the issue to a higher
level, I suggest you contact B&N corporate management.

Thanks,
Mary Ellen
