Our school is talking to a company called REMEX about installing a Thin Client system. With this system, all the computer stations are dummies. Everything works off the server. There is an initial large cost for installation of the Citrix server, but you don't need to purchase new computers every few years. All upgrading is done through the server. In a way this is going back to the mainframe scheme of things from years back. One of the positives is that kids can access the school's network from home. However, some programs don't work well with this system. I understand KidPix is one of them. We are looking at this as a cost saving measure - at least after the capital outlay to install it. Does anyone have any information, pro or con about this technology?
