We have Nettrekker. I like the concept, but there are several problems = with the execution. =20 1. Many of the reviewers do not seem to be especially qualified, so no guarantee that they are choosing the best or just what they have found = and liked. They note person is a teacher, not a HS biology teacher, or = person has teaching degree (and date) but not area of expertise. =20 2. Nettrekker has not replied to emails asking for particulars like evaluation or selection rubric, review schedule, reconsideration policy, schedule for adding new resources. 3. Some resources aren't much better than a basic Google (see 1). Get results like a Yahoo Health page on Listeriosis when searching abortion. Or 'Heartland Project' when searching John Kerry 4. Not balanced sources. Political figures point to official and = campaign pages, virtually no sites with counterpoint. G.W. Bush has 8 hits = (though some seem to focus on father), John Kerry 4 without a link to campaign = site. R. Nader gets 43 (and link to campaign is first) 5. Out of date resources. Search 'Saddam Hussein' and hits on first page = end in 1990..... Year old sites still proclaiming 'new' research, Old Kerry info, no link to campaign site. 6. Inconsistent. A Boeing search brings up space station and WTC, but nothing about 747 7. Misspellings in several of the reviews.=20 To their benefit, they did acknowledge they were noting pro-choice sites = as controversial but not pro-life and fixed that.=20 =20 Robert Eiffert, Librarian Pacific Middle School Beiffert at egreen wednet edu Beiffert at Comcast dot net =20 --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
