Thanks to all of you who responded with suggestions for books to go along with the 6 traits of writing. I got many responses and hope that I've included them all here. Anne Timbs ___________________________________________________ Would Robin Pulver's "Mrs. Toggle's Zipper" work? In that book the children use "thing-a-ma-jig" for __________ now I can't think of the right word that is the real word for the thing-a-ma-jig that pulls the zipper up and down. :>) Trait of Word Choice ___________________________________________________ I have a number of six traits books tagged in the collection at the library I just left. Go to: http://bruin.brittan.sancarlos.k12.ca.us/classrooms/library/library.html Click on Books to get to the OPAC. Switch to Boolean, put the drop down menu to Curriculum Codes, then type in the trait you want. We don't have any books for Presentation - when we purchased our Six Traits books there were actually only six!! ________________________________________________________ There is an easy way to access pre-made lists through Follett's Titlewave program. _____________________________________________________________ http://www.wiredinstructor.net/TraitsLinks.html http://www.dsdk12.net/~lnull/ http://www.aea11.k12.ia.us/curriculum/6_traits/resourcetrade.html These are several sites I've used for Six Traits. ____________________________________________________________ This is not a picture book but a chapter book but I thought I would mention it anyway, Gooney Bird Greene by Lois Lowry is a story filled with how to be a good storyteller/writer. ____________________________________________________________ Here is a handout I put together several years ago for my staff. It came from LM_NET at the time! You might need to check to be sure the links are still working. Good luck! I have a copy, but I can not find it at the moment (I'm moving from one school district to another - lots of materials in boxes). The copy that I have is several years old and there may be an update.
