Good question. When I was younger, we copied albums onto cassettes to use
in the car - and I thought that was given an okay when the cassette was to
be used only by the owner. I'd like ot learn more.

On a sidenote, I had a teaching assistant show up at school one day with a
bag full of illegally copied movies. She'd paid her pastor $5 for each
one. Apparently he had quite a booming little business going selling
those dvds. The assistant had plans to re-sell them to kids but ran into
me first. I told her to tell her pastor he was setting a pretty poor
example! I wonder if she ever did....
