TARGET: 2nd/3rd grade read alouds

I have a teacher that is teaching a combined 2nd/3rd grade class for the =
first time.  She is looking for a good read-aloud chapter book to start =
off the school year.  We are trying to "aim high" within this =
combination group and hoping to find something that will keep our boys =
engaged.  It sounds like she has used more "classic" titles in the past =
such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlotte's Web, so I =
would like to include a few "classic" titles well as new books that may =
work well with this group. =20

If you have any 2nd/3rd suggestions I would love to hear them.  I'll =
post a hit.
