And don't forget to keep your old encyclopedias for historical
perspective studies.  Such topics as political correctness as it applies
to African Americans, Native Americans, Latinos etc... can be looked at
not only by the descriptions in the text but also the photos. What about
comparing maps of various countries - some that don't exist any more, or
some that have changed their names. Rhodesia, Belgian Congo, South
Vietnam, Taiwan, Poland, Germany, East Germany;  there is still a lot of
useful comparative information in those old dusty encyclopedias!!
