This is my first post but know someone of you can help.

We are using a book study idea to increase our students level of
expository reading across the curriculum. We have had trouble finding
research about the effectiveness of this program but have seen really
positive results in our building as test scores have increased and
students have been more authentically engaged in projects surrounding
these readings. We are looking for other middle/high schools which
may
be doing a similar program and what results they have documented.

Our program involves using documented successful reading strategies
with expository reading in classrooms across the curriculum, e.g.
reading a biography of Louis Pasteur (one of 3 different reading
levels) in 7th grade science; reading a choice of Life of An American
Soldier in Europe, Letters from a World War II GI, or I Had Seen Castles
(fiction) for use with 11th grade U.S. History projects. Classroom
teachers have embraced this program and we have also used these book
sets for teacher book study which was a basis for modeling reading
strategies and differentiation at our professional development days.

I have searched archives and internet and not found any other programs
like this. Please respond off list and I will gladly post a HIT is
there is interest.

TIA for helping make me look good to my administrators!
