ELEM: First Connections/Golden Book Encyclopedia

Does anyone know of a good substitute for First Connections, the CD version
of Golden Book Encyclopedia?  I am having trouble with ours (they skip
letters so that it is nearly impossible to get to information between E and
V).  I have searched the Internet for First Connections, for Western
Publishing Company in Racine WI (publisher of print Golden Book
Encyclopedia) and for Jostens Learning Corporation (publisher of First
Connections CD) and keep coming up with dead ends.

If anyone out there knows anything about these companies I'd appreciate
hearing from you. It appears to me that they no longer exist.
