Thanks for this info. I alerted our Tech Director who was aware of the site
and said he has removed all of the offensive comments about our teachers.
He checks it weekly. Quite a world we are living it, isn't it?

Subject: Website for students to rate teachers

> Today an email came from our state's commissioner of school libraries
informing us of a rather interesting website. The site, ratemyteachers.com
> <http://ratemyteachers.com> gives our high school and middle school
students the opportunity to rate their teachers, administrators, support
staff, etc. I opened the website to view its contents and was quite
surprised to see my name there and two ratings. Although my ratings were
very favorable, I looked at the ratings of professionals at other schools in
my county and the ratings and comments they received were quite
inappropriate.
> I know there are those who will state that this is simply "freedom of
speech." I do not want to debate that issue; instead I just want to make
you aware of this website.
> I feel each of you should decide on a local level appropriate action you
might want to take.
> One of the more interesting links on the site's homepage is the Wall of
Shame. School districts will find themselves on the Wall of Shame if their
filter blocks access to this website from their school computers. (After
today, my district will be added to the Wall of Shame!) Clicking the Wall of
Shame link will take you to a page where you can follow another link to
learn how to disable your school's blocking software.
> Again...I am not posting this for a debate on first ammendment rights but
instead just for your information.
