Kristi and Susan,

Wow, fantastic that you're each sponsoring your first author visit! And
two such well-known authors, both fabulous speakers (I've heard them both)
are a great way to start.

I'd like to invite you (and other interested colleagues) to begin your
preparations by visiting my website at
http://www.tonibuzzeo.com/visits.html. There you will find nine different
pages devoted to author visits, from the practical to the philosophical. I
hope they'll help you to prepare. I have also written a book about author
and illustrator visits, TERRIFIC CONNECTIONS WITH AUTHORS, ILLLUSTRATORS,
AND STORYTELLERS (Libraries Unlimited 1999). It is a thorough and useful
source of information about making author visits really meaningful for
students, particularly in an age of content standards, learning objectives,
and assessment.

Best,
Toni
