As the author of TERRIFIC CONNECTIONS WITH AUTHORS, ILLLUSTRATORS, AND
STORYTELLERS (Libraries Unlimited 1999) for librarians, I was one of the
people author Alexis O'Neill asked for some help as she writes a
corresponding book about author visits gearedc for authors and

Dear Library Media Specialists,
Alexis O'Neill and Jackee McNitt Engles and are working on a book for
authors and illustrators on how to do school visits called (at present),
AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS ON STAGE: A GUIDE TO MAKING SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS
AND PUBLIC APPEARANCES.
Would you be willing to answer these questions?
1.) As a librarian, what strategy do you typically use to find an author
or illustrator to hire for a school visit?
2.) Have you ever hired an author or illustrator based on a brochure or
website alone?
Specifics would be most welcome.
Please be assured that your express permission to use your stories or
advice in the book would be secured if they are chosen to be included in
the book. Any of your contributions that are used in the book will be
properly credited. If you provide a story and wish it to be anonymous in
the book but would still like to be listed as a contributor, we will do
that. The appendix will include your website as well, if you wish.
