Subject: Target: Famous Black Americans

Dear Friends -

I am great at ideas but not at finding the pieces I need to make
something
work.

The computer teacher and I are working on a unit for Black History Month
for
our seconds and third grades.
I am looking for small 3x4 inch photos/illustrations of 25 or so
different
famous black Americans. We want to load each on a template, and then
make
some sentence starters: This is _______. S/he was born on ______ in
_______.
This person is famous because_________

(We did a similar project with animals but used the information to make
a
six page slide show)

I will have each printed out and we will do an encyclopedia lesson to
fill
in the blanks. Then the students will go to the computer lab, open up
the
appropriate template, type the missing words, and print it out to take
home.
We may also post them on our school website.

I looked at Enchanted Learning, but there are only a few people included
and
the illustrated ones are done very poorly. I could find them in print
and
scan them in but cutting & pasting from a web site is much easier. I do
not
have the time for the kids to find the illustrations on their own.

Any ideas? Please send them directly to me - not to the list!

PS - I will share what I find out. If you are interested let me know. If
it's more than 20 of you I will just post a hit.
