HIT: gr 3 Science/Social Studies magazines

Here are the suggestions that I received regarding possible gift ideas
for a 3rd grade boy interested in science and social studies.  Thanks to
all who sent suggestions!

How about:
Ranger Rick
Owl
Zoobooks
Your Big Backyard
Time for Kids

Cobblestone (Amer Hist) and Odyssey (space)

Here are a couple more that come to mind:

Ranger Rick (might be a bit young, but great nature
articles)
Calliope (for 4th grade+--but if he's a strong reader,
great world history here)
Cricket magazine--it has a lot of literature as well,
but they also have great nonfiction articles on a
variety of scientific and social studies topics (this
was my favorite magazine as a kid--and I still love
it!)

I just found this website--it has a few that I
mentioned, plus a lot more!  Most are focused on
social studies or science, and they're arranged by
grade level.  You can check them out to see if any
seem to fit the bill.

Appleseeds and Click! are good choices. If a higher level reader,
Cobblestone is my favorite!
