Back in the pre-internet days, one of our students turned in a report
about marine animals. It was neatly written, right down to the
parentetical cross reference "see oceans". Amazingly, the child's
parent protested the ) she received on the report. The Mom said she was
certain that her child had intended to include a section on oceans - but
then just ran out of time before the due date.
