The issue of signing gym, math manipuatives, and social studies text
book use was humorous to me. Personally, I have no intention of
adding another agreement to the pile that parents/students must sign at
the beginning of the year. To me, it's just common sense that in
school, students will be using the library and checking out books. The
parent that initiated the original request is just looking for a way to
shirk his/her own responsibility - to help the child find the lost
book(s) or pay for it/them.
