One can hope the "Give Me Five Books" would be "Give Me Five Books =
(about
the subject I am interested in)"

Excuse me, but weren't most of the negative comments about leveling =
books
about how inadequate reliance on any one system is, and using RL tests =
as a
prescriptive guide limits reading?

How about insuring every teacher brings kids to library and librarians =
are
included in reading activity planning? If the kid doesn't get to the =
library
it is a pretty sure bet I won't discover their interests or abilities.
Lexile would be only a part of any Readers Advisory.

Maybe the PE dept could use # of chinups as a predictor for interest in
track. =20

And it seems to me that having access to test scores in the library =
database
could be a privacy issue. There is a lot of student information I don't =
have
ready access to, and my assistant is even more limited. Then again, =
maybe we
could include the last 20 or so books the kid has read?
