Hello,
Below is a compilation of responses to my querry about where to begin =
when thinking about revising your district's library selection, etc. =
policies. Although I did not say I would post a HIT in my original I was =
prompted to do so by some replies I received.=20
Doug

For a course project recently, I found tons of excellent policy =
information in various school district web sites. In Google, type in key =
search words, ie. technology plan, or integrated library system. One =
site that does come to mind with many links is <http://www.ilsr.com/>. =
It is a bit outdated but very helpful in accumulating ideas.

. . . the best template for this task is the Selection Policy Workbook
developed by the ALA Intellectual Freedom division of ALA. Go to the ALA =
web
site and drill down thru My Association to select Intellectual Freedom. =
Then
search on the Selection Policy Workbook.=20

(At the ALA site after logging in go to
<http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/challengesupport/dealing/workbookselection.ht=
m>
for selection policy guidelines.)

My district's policies are located on our library website. You can go
to http://www.bcps.org/offices/lis and if you go into the library office
you will find our various policies and librarian manual.

I saw your LM_NET posting requesting information about library=20
policies. For my library science collection development course, we=20
referred to some sites listed on ACQWeb. You can see the list (scroll =
down=20
to the school library section) at:

http://acqweb.library.vanderbilt.edu/acqweb/cd_policy.html

One particularly good one is that of the Baltimore County Public Schools =

site, which discusses the items you requested (challenges, philosophy,=20
etc.). You can access it directly at:

http://www.bcps.org/offices/lis/office/admin/selection.html

*******************

Some folks sent simply links or attachments with their school's policy. =
If you want the attachment I sense a request to the email addresses =
below would suffice to get it sent to you.
