Howie,

I hope the parent realizes that a formal book challenge involves one and
only one book. If s/he wishes for all books with the f-word to be removed it
can't happen as a group project. Actually, it would be interesting to see a
list of high school level books with the f-word. I can remember being in
high school and all we wanted to read were books with the
f-word.......Catcher in the Rye, Jaws, Carrie.....

The best way to proceed is by following the district guidelines for a book
challenge. I hope a group of teachers, parents, and administrators is
reading the book, and that later a discussion will happen. The parent DOES
NOT have the final word.
