I work at a Catholic school and the Bible the students use is Fireside New American Bible. They also use this in the middle and elementary catholic schools here. It is not a Catholic Bible. There's really only two translation choices: New American Bible New Jerusalem Bible My personal preference is for the New Jerusalem, but some people have difficulty adjusting to the "names" of God being used rather than just "Lord " A seventh grader is going to be more familiar with the readings from the NAB.
