We are a large preK- grade 5 elem. school (965 students) and just started =
this year using library ID cards. Each card has the student's name, =
picture, grade and library bar code. We keep them in the library for =
checkouts during fixed class times. All year students have been asking if =
they can take the card home at the end of the year. I asked the tech dept =
and was told yes, since they will get new ones next year. I told the =
students that when their books are returned or lost book fines are paid =
they may have the card to keep. I have never in 5 years seen books =
returned so quickly! They are pretending they are FBI cards, driver's =
licenses, credit cards, etc. Word is spreading on the school bus to "Bring =
your books back to Mrs. Finucane and she'll give you your library card to =
KEEP!=20
