Copyright and privacy issues are definitely a problem with this type of performance. However, I also know that parents really enjoy having copies of their children's performances. Another time, you might do some advance planning to cover the copyright and privacy issues then arrange to run the program on your local cable channel. The cable companies are required to have a public access channel in most franchise agreements. If you run the program on that channel and advertise the time(s) when it will run, parents can make their own copies, leaving you out of the copying loop. :-) Marjorie Marjorie L. Pappas, Ph. D. Carole, In my school, we have a photo permission that is on the students' emergency cards, where the parents mark whether the school has permission to take and use photos of their child. I would assume most schools have something similar. I believe you would be breaking copyright for the music as well. Perhaps you could tell the office staff that "I'd love to share the wonderful talent show with our parents, but it would be breaking copyright to do that, and I don't want to get the school into any trouble over this." Hope that helped! :) Kimberly Rose Teacher-Librarian krose@fwps.org Star Lake Elementary Kent, WA Federal Way School District ---- Original Message ---- From: CHBmedia@AOL.COM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU, Subject: RE: How to handle this..
