Very rarely do I reply to the whole list but this thread interests me.
Most that have written have panned the movie.
A couple brave souls have liked it.
I loved it. The graphics are incredible, the acting is getting better and
they did pull the essentials from the book.
Can any movie truly follow the book?
When I teach video editing to kids I force them to storyboard. Try writing
a storyboard for any of the HP books then sit down and figure out how you
can possibly make it happen. It's almost impossible with any book unless
you are willing to sit through a movie 10 to 20 hours long.
It's been so long ago that I read HP3 that I truly don't remember it. Did
the movie hold together for me? Absolutely. I'm anxious to go back and
read it but that's great because I think many will read them again.
J.K. and her movie denisons have done us a favor, people will be heading
back to books again to reread or to read what they missed.
Looking forward to the rest of the books and movies.
P.S. No movie has ever lived up to my imagination as I apply it to the
books I read but I still enjoy them as I understand that no matter how good
the film is, my imagination is better. I wonder if that hasn't been lost on
many of our readers today as I ask them what the story looks like in their
heads and they give me a blank stare.
I truly am glad that the early Star Wars movies came before the books
because I think the books aren't as good. Funny how that works. :)
