I am a little late on this thread, but here is my thought. Many times when I meet someone and they know I am a librarian in a school I am asked do you still use that old Dewey Decimal System? I am always surprised, but I think that some people believe with the advent of computers that we have an all new system. I think they are confusing the card catalog with cataloging. Not the same at all, as we all know. I love Dewey, and tell my students that Melivlle is my hero. He really, is, too!
