Target: Short Literary Classics

Hello,
        Looking for short literary classics that are satirical or have a social =
or political theme for an AP English class.  They shouldn't be too =
obscure because we need to find criticism for these works also.  =
Examples are Go Tell It On The Mountain (Baldwin), Lord of the Flies =
(Golding), Metamorphosis (Kafka), Animal Farm (Orwell), The Jungle =
(Sinclair) and In Dubious Battle (Steinbeck).  I have a respectable =
list, but would like to add more.
