I started paying attention to this thread halfway through, so I missed =
the
first several messages. Please bear with me if I'm asking for something
that's already been offered. I would love to receive suggested titles =
(both
fiction and non-fiction) that deal with gay and lesbian lifestyles and
issues for my collection development purposes, and I would be glad to =
post a
hit.

I've had some of the same internal struggles. But knowing we had quite a =
few
openly gay/lesibian students gave me the courage to start ordering a few
titles. I beefed up the non fiction titles for research and have stopped
"deselecting" or hesitating because of gay content for fiction. I've
received only positive comments from those who've discovered any of the
fiction books. I'm sure there are some parents out there somewhere who'd
object. I figure I will cross that bridge when and if the time comes =
they
actually do. I can't let the fear of a possible challenge be my =
automatic
stop point as there's someone out there to object to probably half the =
books
we own. If it is a quality book that can stand on its own otherwise, =
chances
are it COULD survive a challenge. So let 'em come.
