Dear Friends,
In my new library we use Winnebago Spectrum 5.0. In my old job we used
Follett (what a difference!).

A student showed me yesterday that he was able to access his account on the
OPAC. He wanted to know what books he had out, so he performed a very simple
operation.
This really bugged me. I thought this information was confidential - between
the patron and the librarian and that it was only accessible on the main
Circulation desk computer.

Okay, this is an elementary school and my kids are not taking out books on
abortion or building bombs - but still, any student can see what any other
student has out. What if a boy took out Babysitter's Club and his buddies looked
that up. Can you imagine the teasing?
Has anyone else run into this dilemma?
Thanks!
