Good morning
In many posts to this list, people state they are in a K-2 or Grade 5 or
Grade 9 school or a similar narrow range of year level, and I am wondering
what the reasons for this are.

For example, in a hypothetical perfect place :>} let's say there are 1800
elementary-aged students who fall neatly into groups of 600 K-2; 600 3-4;
and 600 5-6. What is the evidence/ research that shows that their
educational outcomes will be improved by creating three narrow-focus schools
as opposed to three K-6 schools?

Or are the decisions made on financial, resource-based lines?

As I said in my earlier post, I am working on a best-practice website for my
educational authority and I want to provide links to as many different
options and the research that determines the decisions. I am also
interested in the what and why of charter schools and any other alternative
school structures or timetables (K-12) that are based on evidence of
improved learning outcomes. So suggestions for authoritative links are
welcome.
